Vada Pav Recipe
Ingredients
For Vada (Potato Filling):
- 4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
For Batter:
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
- A pinch of baking soda
- Water as needed
- Salt to taste
For Assembling:
- 6 pav buns
- Dry garlic chutney (optional)
- Green chutney (optional)
- Tamarind chutney (optional)
- Graminn Organik Oil for frying
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Vada Filling
- Heat Graminn Organik oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add curry leaves, green chilies, ginger, and garlic. Sauté for a minute.
- Mix in turmeric and salt. Add mashed potatoes and cook for 2 minutes.
- Let the mixture cool and shape into small balls.
Step 2: Make the Batter
- In a bowl, mix gram flour, turmeric, red chili powder, salt, and baking soda.
- Gradually add water to make a smooth, thick batter.
Step 3: Fry the Vadas
- Heat Graminn Organik oil in a deep pan.
- Dip potato balls into the batter, coat evenly, and fry until golden and crisp. Drain excess oil.
Step 4: Assemble the Vada Pav
- Slice pav buns and lightly toast if desired.
- Spread dry garlic chutney, green chutney, or tamarind chutney inside the buns.
- Place a fried vada inside each bun and press lightly.
Step 5: Serve
Serve hot with fried green chilies or extra chutney on the side. Enjoy!
